HeadsUpGuys film, It Gets Better, shortlisted at Berlin Commercial 2026
We self-funded It Gets Better and pitched HeadsUpGuys on it because the organization's mission, and the message, mattered to us. We hoped it would reach people, not that it would win us anything. So it means a great deal to us to say this: the film was shortlisted at Berlin Commercial 2026, in Spec, the festival's category for self-initiated work, and went into jury voting ahead of the September 9 awards at Kino International in Berlin.
We may not have come home with a trophy, but being shortlisted for a film this personal is more than we were counting on.
This was never really about winning. It was about our characters, Aaron and his father, and the men who might see a piece of themselves in either one. HeadsUpGuys has spent over a decade doing that work quietly. We're just grateful a jury in Berlin took a look. Watch It Gets Better here
